Things I worked on:

New Food Identity

Design research project to reduce Food Waste for Millennials in NYC

  • What if we try to save the planet? What if we do what we can with what we have?

    • 1/3 of the globally produced food goes to waste. Food that is ready for consumption, ready to fuel bodies & minds.

    • 30-40% of the US food supply goes to waste

    • 40-50% of it happens on the consumer level

Which is more than $1’800 per year and person, and enough to feed 1 person for 19 days straight.

  • How might we enable consumers to sustainably adapt mindful food consumption behavior at home?

  • Zooming in from this global problem to the individual perspective I decided to conduct the below listed ethnographic methodologies which included:

    • 9 user & expert interviews

    • 3 user shop-alongs

    • Study of 16 fridges & pantries

Further secondary research was conducted as well as synthesis and presenting of findings.

Tools applied: Mural, Google Slides, Post-its

  • How about we to create a new food identity?

The proposed outcome is a concept that promotes a food identity which provokes change, a new movement adhering to a minimalist food philosophy.

ODAT

Development & ready-to-launch strategy for a healthy nutrition habit app

  • With my team we joined forces over our passion for healthy living and a deeply rooted belief that nature is the best medicine for the mind, body, and soul.

With shocking facts & numbers of the health departments in the US we set out implement change.

    • 40% of US adults are obese

    • Less than 1 in 10 US adults eat the required amount of fruits & vegetables required for their bodies

    • Up to 40% premature deaths in the US are preventable. Diet related diseases is the number 2 cause.

  • What if millennials in New York City were able to develop mindful nutrition habits?

  • For this project, we followed the double diamond model and started with secondary research, followed by extensive primary research which lead to conceptualizing a solution we planned to implement at a later stage.

    • 25 potential user interviews (Gen Z & Gen Y) representing 14 different cultures

    • 5 industry expert interviews

    • Focus group with potential users

    • MVP simulation

    • Workshop design & facilitation

    • Functionalities & actions plan

    • Business Value Matrix

Tools applied: Figma, Miro, Mural, Google slides, Zoom, Excel

  • The outcome is a digital app-based solution that empowers people by:

    - Breaking down change into small achievable steps

    - Providing a supportive community of friends and peers for motivation, camaraderie, and accountability

    - Forging partnerships to make available credible bite-sized content from subject-matter experts

All One Day At A Time

Nudge

Design of an ecosystem in the new paradigm of blurred work home

  • What does work life balance in the age of a pandemic mean?

  • What if it’s not about balance but about a transformed work life integration?

    • Deep Stakeholder Interviews

    • Secondary & primary research

    • Empathy maps

    • Prototype testing

    • Brainstorm workshop design & facilitation

Tools applied: Miro, Mural, Adobe XD, Zoom

  • A 5° shift can change your life.

Designed to combat the blurred lines between work and home, Nudge provides its users a pause, a break to ground themselves to build resilience against burnout. The Nudge ecosystem comes in two solutions:

    • The analog companion allows you to take a break from screens to get inspiration, share and take some time off to re-center.

    • There is a partner digital app built for those that prefer a digital solution.

BLOOM

Business model of a trusted parenting network based on an app

  • New parents often face the challenge of looking for verified answers regarding the health and development of their child.

There is no time for parents to search through hundreds of generic articles to find answers to child-related questions.

There is a lack of verified answers and reliable information on parenting on the web as well as a lack of credibility with search results and their sources.

  • How might we simplify the search for credible, reliable and applicable information for young parents to raise their child?

  • The process included the following:

    • Primary and secondary research, along with interviews with parents of children between 1-14 years old

    • Potential investor interviews as part of the research process

    • Synthesizing the gathered data and conceptualizing the solution

    • Landscape analysis

    • Creation of the marketing strategy to promote the solution

    • Calculating financial viability of solution (TAM, SAM, SOM), as well as revenue model

Tools applied: Mural, Google Slides, Excel, Zoom

  • The outcome is BLOOM - a trusted parenting network based on an app.

The mission of BLOOM is to provide parents with the trusted resources they need to support them in their parenting journey. Through Bloom, parents will be able to build their own village to support them in raising their children.

Some key features of the app are:

    • Go-to resource for parenting advice

    • Free community-based platform where parents can interact with other parents.

    • Verified professionals available to help on- demand.

All the parenting resources in one place.

Emotions in Organizations

Research project showing the importance of including emotions into organizations

  • This project was a research paper as part of the New Economies class at Parsons School of Design, Masters of Strategic Design and Management.

In this paper, I am proposing an organizational behavior shift for more efficiency and productivity by integrating more emotions.

  • For most organizations, enhancing the organizational performance is one of the most crucial missions.

So: how can that be done?

  • With this paper I aimed to understand the ways in which Emotional Intelligence and embodied considerations are factored in organizational and management studies.

So, the purpose of my paper was to explore the role of Emotional Intelligence on an individual, group and organizational level.

This means a lot of secondary research was conducted.

  • As claimed by many scientists and practitioners working in the field of organization and management, the most important resources for enterprises is neither technology nor money, but the human factor, that comprises these resources.

So, this paper proposes a seamless integration of the individual employee and the teams into the organization which can lead to more efficiency and productivity by allowing more emotions.

essence

Design of an app that offers orientation & navigation in today’s food world for Gen Z

  • The choice of food products is immense, and almost everything is available at any time. Also, a mass of information about every diet, every food trend and new recipes are accessible.

Thus, members of the young generation feel overwhelmed by the number of choices they have to make and lack direction.

  • Hence, the focus was set on this area with the aim to answer the following question: how can young consumers find an easier way to fulfill their needs?

    • Secondary research

    • Qualitative research conducted with 6 potential end users included the following methods:

      • Ethnographic conversations

      • 2 user shop alongs

      • 1 spacial analysis of a grocery shopping trip

      • Co-design: Collage of an end user to express her values

      • Co-design: Sketch of an end user to express a situation

    • Synthesis of gathered data into findings and insights

    • Group brainstorming sessions

    • Evaluation of 3 concepts with potential end user

    • Co-creation: Low fidelity prototype testing with potential end user

Tools applied: Word, Post-its, Collage, Excel, WhatsApp, PPT & Keynote

This project was exhibited at HSLU Werkschau 2019.

  • “essence”, an app on mobile phones offers end users a simple filtration system to live a life in tune with one’s values. It gives advice for food consumption and additional information to live a more sustainable life.

This project titled ‘Tailored Grocery Shopping A Human-Centered Approach To Simplify Orientation In Today's Food Abundance’ was nominated by the Swiss Design Association for best BA Thesis in 2019. Read more about it on their blog.
